I think everyone has guessed by now that Kathleen is my favorite blogger to shoot in San Francisco! I really love her floral midi + moto jacket + her signature hat look in this shoot. This was the first time we ventured outside of our normal shooting area, and we did not know what to expect on how potential locations could turn out. After shooting a couple shots in front of this brick wall (while dodging on-coming traffic), we realized we had to look for another spot. After walking a few blocks, we found an alleyway all to ourselves. It was perfect – isolated and had tons of good spots to shoot her in her outfit. And lots of LIGHTING (lighting is everything!). I always recommend doing some scouting / field exploration before doing a shoot – that way you don’t waste time searching for a spot during a shoot. But sometimes you have to leave room for spontaneity – it brings a sense of discovery and wonder. And just more fun.
