BlogCrush: Liz Cherkasova of Late Afternoon

Guess who was the first fashion blogger I’ve ever shot! Oh wait… the title gave it away.

I shot with Liz Cherkasova of Late Afternoon back in January 9, 2011. I was fortunate to do a shoot with this model / stylist / fashion blogger (yes, a very deadly combination)  who was very natural in the camera and sported some kick ass looks for this shoot. This is one of two looks, I’ll upload the other one some other time. But this was my favorite – an all of these are unpublished shots. We shot this at The Presidio, in San Francisco.

They say you’ll always remember your first. I think this was the first time I’ve realized that fashion bloggers who love the camera are the best muses to have. This week I’ll bombard my blog with BlogCrush posts!

Liz Cherkasova from Late Afternoon

I had the opportunity last Sunday to collaborate with Liz Cherkasova, one of the most influential stylish bloggers in the fashion world. Her blog is called “Late Afternoon“. It was part of my latest venture to learn more about styling. And who better to ask than a renowned stylist who has been featured in magazines such as German & Italian Vogue, Elle News Blog, INK magazine, Glossy Magazine, 7×7 Magazine and so on!
So here are the things I learned from her:
1. Style comes before fashion. Without personal style, you cannot execute fashion properly.
2. Personal style is about how you make clothing unique to yourself.
3. The best editorial photography focus on uniqueness. Therefore find the most unique clothing/items for photo shoots.
4. Stand out! Find new ways to create a different look from everyone else –  be creative with colors, patterns, shapes, silhouettes.

This was shot in the Presidio, San Francisco. Liz is wearing a skirt from Black Pyramid Vintage, bodysuit and headscarf from American Apparel. Check out her blog post from this shoot.
